    Lee's Comfort Shoes

    June 2013
The Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize Lee's Comfort Shoes as June's Business/Entrepreneur of the Month. This year Lee's Comfort Shoes will celebrate 65 years in business and 30 years in Bellefontaine.

The business was started in 1948 by Lee Reser Sr., son of a German immigrant, who was seeing a better life for his family. He witnessed his father pass away at the age of 38 from a mill hazard in Piqua, Ohio. After that a young Lee Reser Sr. decided to move to Fremont, Ohio and purchased Kibby's shoe store.

Lee Reser Sr. utilized his entrepreneurial skills to develop a multi-branded shoe store, the first of its kind in northern Ohio. Lee Reser Sr. married Lucille Molz and began to raise a family in Fremont. All three of the Resers sons joined the family business and they became a multi store chain opening stores in Bucyrus, Fremont and Tiffin. Lee believed "family values are the key difference that has made Lee's Comfort Shoes a success."

Lee Reser Jr., Lee and Lucille's oldest son, was introduced to Ann Darr, a farmer's daughter of Oak Harbor, Ohio in 1949. They married and moved to open the store in Bucyrus, Ohio. Lee Jr. and Ann have seven children. At one time all of them worked in the family business. Today, Lee's Comfort Shoes is owned by Jack Reser and Jeff Reser, the grandsons of Lee Reser Sr.

In 1983, Jack and Heidi Reser purchased the old Neumairs/Vicario's shoe store and with help of the fourth generation have devoted their energies to the relief of foot pain by combining new technology of materials with the practical application of shoe manufacturing, modifications and fitting.

Today, Lee's Comfort Shoes has 6 stores located in Bucyrus, Fremont, Bellefontaine, Worthington, Tiffin and Sandusky. For more information visit them at 109 N Main Street, Bellefontaine or call 937-599-2250.

Please join us in thanking Lee's Comfort Shoes for their continued support of Logan County!!
